Peter Coleman has over 39 years’ experience in the construction and civil engineering industry within multi-cultural societies and has specialised in contract and project services management at a senior level across a wide range of industries.
Could you give us an overview of your career within the industry?
As the non-recruiter within Linum Consult, I consider myself to be a very good all-round Contractor with experience in both Civil Engineering and Building. Although my background is primarily within the commercial and legal framework.
What does your role involve?
I have spent time to understand and put into practice all aspects of contracting both here in the UK, and the International Market. Guiding companies through the minefield of legal and commercial problems is what makes the difference between success and failure. Doing the job correctly the first time is the key to profitable construction.
I have also been involved in numerous Joint Venture projects both in the UK and Internationally.
My work has involved commercial and legal advice and direction for companies. Contractual reviews and overseeing of the works carried out together with Project Management and Health and Safety reviews and advice. Liaison with clients and their professional team in order to achieve their specific requirements is paramount for the growth of any company.
Tell us more about contract and claims management?
Contractual claims of various degrees are inevitable on many contracts.
Therefore my approach is to produce accurate and clear demonstrations where changes have been clearly instructed or have been required to enable the contractor to complete a professional and compliant contract or where there is a definitive bias towards the contractor by the Client, Employer or Engineer.
To this end I have spent almost 50 years in the industry and now pass on my knowledge to others in order to help grow more businesses, and also help steer them through the difficulties encountered along the way.
