Linum Consult’s client is a leading specialist civil engineering subcontractor. Due to exceptional growth across the UK, they are urgently seeking a Senior Buyer with experience within the UK civil engineering market, to join their team in the West Midlands. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborating with internal teams and project staff to forecast procurement needs, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines
  • Providing strategic input in tenders and estimates, identifying cost-saving opportunities and procurement risks
  • Leading the sourcing for high-value, high-risk requirements
  • Issuing RFQs as per specifications and contracts
  • Evaluating supplier quotes considering value, framework agreements, and strategic spends
  • Negotiating and finalising procurement agreements, ensuring value and compliance
  • Generating accurate purchase orders in the finance system
  • Ensuring procurement complies with policies, QSE standards, ethics, and governance

PROFILE

  • Around 10 years’ experience in procurement operations, supplier coordination, and contract management working in a Buyer role, ideally within the civil engineering industry
  • Ideally have CIPS Level 3 or NVQ equivalent
  • Strong background of working across departments to support project needs, manage purchasing processes, and maintain compliance with internal procedures and industry standards
  • Good history of handling sourcing, cost tracking, supplier onboarding, and day-to-day procurement activities
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients
  • The right to live and work in the UK, with a valid UK driving license
