Linum Consult’s client is RB Rail on the Rail Baltica project: the largest Baltic transport infrastructure project that will create the North – East economic corridor. It will be an electrified, high speed railway line with modern infrastructure for passenger and freight services, ensuring environmentally friendly and fast transportation from Tallinn to the Lithuanian-Polish border. Rail Baltica will connect the Baltic States with Central and Western Europe. The project is largely co-financed by the European Union. They are currently in need of a Railway Safety Engineer to join their team in Latvia.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviewing safety internal guidelines and procedures
  • Supporting the RAMS policy propagation towards the Rail Baltica project
  • Preparing and supporting the review of Risk Analysis and Risk Management of the project’s designers and contractors
  • Preparing qualitative risk analysis for RB Rail’s project systems
  • Preparing and reviewing the railway systems safety cases
  • Reviewing AsBo reports checking the suitability of assessment conclusions for the project
  • Providing technical expertise at the RB Safety Assurance Review Group when requested

PROFILE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent degree or experience
  • At least 7 years’ experience in the Railway Industry as a Safety Engineer, on at least one of these systems: ETCS & Communication, Power subsystem, Track subsystem, or Civil Infrastructure as part of a supplier safety organisation, or Railway Engineering services, or Infrastructure Manager within the safety division
  • Previous experience on at least two railway signalling projects, with at least one a High-Speed Line project
  • Demonstrable history of developing and reviewing safety qualitative and quantitative requirements for rail systems outlined above
  • Demonstrable history of developing and reviewing Safety programmes, Safety Plans, verification & validation plans, safety cases, and risk management programmes based on EU Regulation 402, EN50126, EN50128, and EN50129
  • Strong background in risk analysis using qualitative methods implementation, such as PHA, SHA, IHA, OSHA, and management of Hazard Record Logs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, adaptable, proactive, and have high ethical standards
