Linum Consult’s client is an international technical and engineering construction specialist. They are urgently looking to hire an HSE Manager to join their team on a data centre construction project in Belgium.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carrying out risk assessments and considering how risks could be reduced
- Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and consider all relevant hazards
- Carrying out regular site inspections to ensure policies and procedures are being properly implemented
- Ensuring working practices are safe and comply with legislation
- Preparing health and safety strategies and developing internal policies
- Leading the in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks
- Keeping records of inspection findings and producing reports that recommend improvements
- Recording incidents and accidents and producing statistics for managers
- Keeping up to date with any new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation, including any developments that affect the company’s industry
- Producing management reports, newsletters, and bulletins
- Ensuring equipment is installed safely (scaffolding, etc.)
- Advising on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery, and occupational diseases
PROFILE
- Degree qualification in Environmental Management or similar
- At least 8 years’ experience as a site-based Health & Safety Officer
- Certifications and/or experience of Working at Height, and scaffolding construction, including validating and inspecting harnesses
- History of working on large, complex construction projects
- Excellent communication skills with colleagues of all levels and disciplines, with a proactive and assertive attitude
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the Product liability law and HS&E legislative requirements appropriate to the company’s business activities
- Experience in maintaining HSE management systems: ISO 14001: 2004, OSHAS 18001: 2007 compliant
- Excellent communication skills English, with any French or Dutch language skills an advantage
