Linum Consult’s client is a leading international finance company, currently seeking an Architecture & Development Engineer to ensure the success of end-to-end delivery of various projects taken on by the High Performance Computing architecture, engineering, and development team. This role will be based in Northampton.


  • Owning and managing engineering projects to enhance the environment and HPC’s service
  • Integrating with the company’s core infrastructure systems, implementing and customising third party tools, such as log analytics tools, or development management software to enhance the grid service offering
  • Working with client development teams to assist with on-boarding applications to the grid, with performance enhancements and analysis of grid configuration issues
  • Acting as subject matter expert and representing HPC’s interest in various development forums
  • Undertaking deeper or more complex investigations into grid issues; developing a deep understanding of the details of grid software, the associated comprehensive management technologies providing automated grid management, inventory and software deployment
  • Mentoring the HPC development team members, supporting teams, evangelising innovations, and technology solutions, assisting other development teams in understanding how grid works and how best to use grid techniques
  • Maintaining and developing bullet-proof code and test driving the development


  • Experience of working with distributed computing technologies (Tibco Gridserver, IBM Symphony, etc.)
  • Technical knowledge of enterprise level messaging, authentication and encryption techniques
  • Experience in working with RDBMS technologies including Oracle, MSSQL, MariaDB including development experience in PL/SQL, Transact-SQL, SQL/PSM
  • Experience with development Tools including source control (GIT), Continuous Integration (Jenkins), Testing frameworks (Sonar) & techniques
  • Software deployment tools (e.g. Chef)
  • Scripting tools: Bash, Powershell
  • TCP/IP stack knowledge and debugging
  • Ideally have experience working with Public Cloud offerings – AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.
  • Preferably have skills in Java 8 EE – Maven, Python, C++ (at least be able to maintain code and provide consultancy)
  • Sufficient experience with C# (WCF, WFS), Typescript, JavaScript to analyse and review code
  • Also ideally have experience of HTML 5, ELK (Elastic Stack), Linux (preferably RHEL), and Windows Server
