Linum Consult’s client is part of one of the world’s largest construction companies operating on prestigious civil engineering projects globally. Working in conjunction with a number of government & blue-chip clients they undertake a range of technical civil engineering projects. They are currently seeking a Commercial Manager to oversee all commercial aspects of their UK division. This role will be based at their London office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Overseeing the procurement process of projects
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks on new and existing contracts
  • Preparing, developing, and implementing commercial strategies for pre- and post-tender
  • Reviewing tender information and participating in contractual negotiation for contract awards
  • Managing the overall quantity surveying process and contractual matters during post-contract administration to final account
  • Negotiating contract variations as required
  • Conducting contract administration including providing advice on contractual matters and formulating contractual/legal correspondence
  • Managing contractual disputes and any claims that may arise

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying, ideally with a chartership to RICS and/or CICES
  • At least 15 years’ experience in the contract management of large-scale civil engineering projects
  • Excellent contractual knowledge of forms of contract, including FIDIC, NEC3, and ICE
  • Able to learn sophisticated design and costing packages
  • Previous experience working for main contractors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to write clear and precise reports
